SMART Healthcare Alliance

The SMART Healthcare Alliance group is designed for employers in the healthcare industry who want to take advantage of a group retro plan that combines the premium of similar companies, with emphasis on safety and claims cost control.

Current Healthcare Alliance members are represented by assisted living, skilled nursing, retirement communities, and in-home health care companies all across the state of Washington.

Healthcare Alliance firms are committed to keeping claims costs low by preventing accidents and returning injured workers to light duty as soon as possible. Firms in this group are committed to improving their safety record by lowering their experience factor. Group members currently hold a combined average of .97 experience rate, which is better than the state average of 1.0.

The SMART Healthcare Alliance looks to its potential for refund distribution, and will base 60 percent on performance (premium vs. losses) and 40 percent on premium contributed to the group. Even if a participant's losses exceed their premium, they can still get some refund monies depending on the amount of premium paid into the group's pool.

The SMART Healthcare Alliance's goal is to provide tools to enable members to lower each participant's experience factor and prevent accidents so that all workers can return home safe to their families every day.

The SMART Healthcare Alliance is proud to announce that Approach Management Services (AMS) is the third-party administrator for their program. AMS' history with group refunds is an exceptional one.
