All of us experience conflict in the workplace.  In this workshop, you will learn how to manage it in productive ways. Interpersonal conflict can be harmful to your work environment and quality of life.  The causes of conflict can be many, including resource sharing, interdependent tasks, differences in goals, perceptions, values and/or personality styles.  The key is to develop methods which identify the causes of conflict and to resolve it in a mutually satisfactory manner.

This course examines various techniques which are successful because negative differences are turned into something positive for the individual, organization and public.

Performance Objectives:  Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

- Recognize the major causes of conflict
- Understand how communication patterns, attitudes and values contribute to conflict
- Apply communication techniques to reduce the negative effects of confrontation
- Identify alternative styles to deal with conflict effectively
- Apply effective conflict management to promote teamwork and group cohesiveness
- Apply management techniques to more effectively manage conflict
- Strengthen staff trust and morale
